Professional Education
Dr. Tharp received a bachelor of science
degree in electrical engineering from Rose Hulman Institute of
Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, graduating summa cum
laude, and his medical degree from Indiana University School
of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his internship at
Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana, and his residency in
radiation oncology at Indiana University. He was then named chief resident.

Honors & Memberships
Dr. Tharp serves as national chairman of the radiation executive
committee for US Oncology, and is a member of the American
College of Radiation Oncology, American College of Radiology,
American Medical Association, Indiana Academy of Radiation
Oncology, Indiana State Medical Association, and Indianapolis
Medical Society. He has also served on and been chairman of
numerous local committees including the Community Hospital
Cancer Committee and the Community Hospitals Tumor Board.
In 2005, Dr. Tharp was named a “Top Doctor” by Indianapolis
Monthly, and received the Rose-Hulman Career Achievement
Award. Dr. Tharp has special interest in high-dose-rate brachytherapy,
and has performed over 1000 such procedures. He also
has special interest in prostate and breast cancers.
Personal
Dr. Tharp is a native of Indiana. He and his wife have three children. |
